A Taste of Country Canada

This package takes you into the heart of Country Canada and the hub of a region that produces three quarters of the fresh fruits and vegetables that Canadians consume every year. >From comfort cooking to freshwater specialties this package says, “coming home” at every turn.

Day One:  You visit a working blueberry farm, which is a delightful combination of restaurant and specialty shopping. The next stop is an opportunity to see the home of Canada’s award winning, elite rodeo-style precision equine drill team. After you check into your hotel it is off to a supper of freshwater specialties. As you travel your guide will provide a wonderful interpretation of the highlights and products of the agricultural landscape around you.

Day Two: After breakfast at the hotel, you will reflect on the automotive history of the world at the finest classic car collection in North America. While you are there you will watch skilled artisans at work refashioning the automotive art of yesterday and today. From there it is a visit to the region’s agricultural college for a guided tour of the newest in agronomy, agriculture and animal care. The finale of this tour is a visit to a working farm for a delicious country lunch and farm tour.

Bluewater “Eco/Ag” Day

Situated on the south shore of Lake Huron at the headwaters of the St. Clair River. Sarnia is noted for its breathtaking sky blue water and beautiful waterfront parks. Because it is a border community, Sarnia is one of Ontario's principal gateways to the United States and the Bluewater Bridge is one of the busiest commercial border crossings in North America. This package shows you the softer side of this industrial giant and a collection of attractions that are truly unique.

Day one starts at a place where you can learn about honeybees and follow honey from the hive to the table. While you are there, explore the gift shop and observation hive and than taste the award winning honey wines. After you get over your buzz because of this site you will enjoy an escorted tour of a fabulous lakeside herb garden with a 140 year old barn which features organically grown herbs. The final stop of this day is a wonderful orchard /winery near the shores of Lake Huron where you can wander though the abundant local produce and sample the estate produced wines.

On day two you will have a guided tour of this dynamic community situated on the southern tip of Lake Huron and at the headwaters of the St. Clair River.  This tour includes the beautiful Germain Gardens and Sarnia’s unique lakeside inner city park. Your next stop is a “museum” that has an international collection of some 6,000 objects artistically displayed in a gallery setting. Fluorescent minerals, fossils, minerals, gemstones, artifacts, shells, butterflies, insects, antlers, horns and huge shark jaws are all on permanent display. The final tour stop will be a visit to a First Nation’s operated interpretive centre where you can witness traditional dancing, drumming and storytelling and learn a traditional craft from one of 80 aboriginal artists and artisans whose exhibit in the centre. Your day will be made complete with a lunch at the home of Sarnia’s most famous bacon.
