HMCS Haida

Many who fought for their country and for the principles they were willing to die for have left us but Hamilton never forgets them. Some of the most memorable places to visit in the Hamilton region are the places where military history is preserved and where stories of matchless heroism are fondly celebrated. This unforgettable tour takes you to two living history museums for a moving and poignant day of reflection and remembrance.

After your arrival in Hamilton you will take a guided tour of the HMCS Haida National Historic Site - Proudly displayed in Hamilton Harbour is Canada’s most famous fighting ship HMCS Haida. She’s the last of the Tribal Class destroyers and she fought in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. During your visit to her you can board her and walk her 377-foot length or, if you’re adventurous, go below and experience how sailors lived and worked on this beautifully maintained piece of Canadian naval history. Your lunch will be at the Hamilton Warplane Heritage Museum – Your lunch, served in the delta shaped presentation hall at the museum, will consist of traditional wartime fare served at home and abroad and will end with the HWHM’s own “Warcake”. After lunch you will bent rated to an emotional and powerful reading of actual letters written between a husband and a wife during wartime show how they stayed close while war drove them apart. The tour ends with  a guided tour of the Hamilton Warplane Heritage Museum – During your tour here you will see one of worlds’ largest displays of operational vintage aircraft under one roof. Their collection includes many one of a kind planes including the only flying Lancaster bomber in Canada. You may just see some of these priceless artifacts in the air during your visit.

Niagara Falls Excursion

Marineland

Start your day with your departure form Southwestern Ontario by deluxe highway coach and travel to the city that is home to one of the seven wonders of the world.

On arrival in Niagara Falls you will visit Marineland.  Marineland is a unique adventure park. Here you'll enjoy an entertaining dolphin, walrus and sea lion show at the King Waldorf® Stadium; awesome killer whale "Splash and Jump Sessions" at Friendship Cove® and the opportunity to feed and touch a beluga whale at Arctic CoveTM. The park also has animal displays, including a deer petting park; freshwater fish aquarium and amusement rides.

After your time at Marineland you will visit Clifton Hill which overlooks the mighty Falls and is home to over 35 Niagara Falls attractions. While you are on the hill you will visit three attractions and have some time to explore the shops one of Canada’s most famous streets.

Your visit to th hill will end with dinner at a restaurant inspired by film and television and fuul of excitement and glamour. Dine in the Sci-Fi Room or the Adventure Room and enjoy your meal surrounded by authentic Hollywood memorabilia. Look up and see movie artifacts suspended from the domed ceiling including the Ferris Wheel from the Steven Spielberg film "1941" and many others.

Your day ends with arrival back home after a very full and rewarding day.

Toronto Daytrip

St. Lawrence Market

Depart Chatham and travel by Via Rail to Toronto.  In addition to being a really fun way to travel, going to Toronto by train makes ecological sense. Did you know that while the transportation industry was responsible for more than 26% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced in Canada in 2005, VIA was responsible for only 0.03 %

On arrival in Toronto you will take a walking Tour of Old Toronto which includes the St. Lawrence Market. The St. Lawrence Market is Toronto's premier traditional market. In the centre of the historic Old Town Toronto and close to the hub of today's downtown, it was Toronto's social centre, City Hall and marketplace throughout the City's history.

The highlight if this day will be your attendance at a matinee performance of the Sound of Music at the Princess of Wales Theatre. This activity is made complete with your attendance at a Q&A with cast of Sound of Music (subject to availability). After the show you will walk along Queen St to the Eaton centre. On your walk you will pass the Toronto City Hall that is one of the most distinctive landmarks of the city.

Dinner is at a market concept restaurants which features a transparent, free-flow style of food and beverage preparation where you can see and experience the aromas, sights and sounds that are reminiscent of a Mediterranean market place.

After dinner its back to Union station for the ride home. Union Station was built in 1872 on Front Street between York and Simcoe Streets. Today the station is owned by the commuter rail operator GO Transit and serves over 200,000 passengers a day.  It is the busiest passenger transportation facility in Canada
