FULL MOON / FULL SPIRITS

Full Moon Nights only
6:00 pm – 12:00 pm

Dates: May – October

Humans have long had a fascination with supernatural elements such as spirits and the afterlife. They serve as great mysteries that cannot be revealed to living through conventional means. Throughout history, humans have attempted to connect to spirits in their own ways, whether it be by ceremony, or seeking those who are more in touch with the supernatural than most. However, one spirit that most humans are in touch with are fine wines. On our Full Moon / Full Spirits tour, visitors will be able to sample alcohol spirits as well as spirits from beyond.

We start the tour with a visit to Smith & Wilson Estate Winery in Lake Erie North Shore. A family-owned winery, Smith & Wilson opened in 2005 and is focused on preparing small batch, quality wines made on a third generation century farm to be enjoyed with family and friends. As a 2011 award winner in both national and international competitions, the storytelling and tasting here is sure to lift your “spirits”!

Speaking of spirits, we will also be visiting spirits of life’s past when we visit the cemetery at Buxton National Historic Site and Museum. The Buxton settlement is known as the final stop on the Underground Railroad and as a safe haven for runaway slaves. The cemetery serves as a final resting place for those who lived their lives in turmoil, chasing freedom through hardship by slavery. We will be honouring those spirits by performing a libation ceremony as well as participating in a cemetery walk.

Afterwards, we will be visiting the Early Acres Estate Winery in Chatham. Located further inland from the lake and in the Banana Belt of Ontario, Early Acres is able to start their growing season earlier due to warmer temperatures which aid to the flavour and body of their wines. The tour and tasting will make for another beautiful visit amongst the grapevines.

In the evening we will stop for a lovely dinner and a presentation from a clairvoyant, who will aid us in contacting the “other side” and connect us to the spirits that surround us. We will end the evening with a gaze at the full moon, its beauty embedding our presence and the presence of spirits and the supernatural together.
